The midfielder is reportedly being courted by Premier League strugglers Hull City and Sunderland.

Hull City and Sunderland are ‘slugging it out’ over FC Porto midfielder Andre Andre, according to a report on page 51 of Wednesday’s Sun newspaper.

Andre is said to be available for £5 million, which will no doubt appeal to both clubs as they look to drag themselves off the foot of the Premier League table.

Sunderland’s need for central midfielders is no secret, with Jan Kirchhoff, Lee Cattermole and Paddy McNair all out for the foreseeable future.

However, Hull have recently appointed Portuguese coach Marco Silva, which could convince the Seleccao star to choose East Yorkshire over Wearside.

Andre, who is the son of former Porto and Portugal midfielder Antonio Andre, only moved to Estadio do Dragao in 2015 from Vitoria Guimaraes and, despite being a regular last term, the 27-year-old has started just 11 matches this season in all competitions.

Though a natural attacking midfielder, Andre can also operate in a deeper role as well as on either flank.
