The Stoke City midfielder is said to be interesting Southampton and West Ham United.
Mark Hughes is ready to reunite with Stoke City midfielder – and West Ham United target – Joe Allen if Southampton survive in the Premier League, the Daily Mirror reports [March 19th, page 47].
Allen has impressed since signing for Stoke under Hughes two years ago, and was the subject of a £25 million approach from West Ham in January, according to Hammers co-owner David Sullivan [via Talksport].
And while Stoke refused to sell the Welshman at any price, the Daily Mirror claims they will struggle to keep him if they fail to stay up this season.
Southampton and Stoke occupy two of the top flight’s bottom three positions, with West Ham only a place and two points better off.
And Allen’s decision could be made for him, unless other clubs enter the running for his signature.
Hughes, who won his first game as Southampton manager in the FA Cup initially, is on a contract until the end of this season.
However, the former Wales boss is likely to be kept on if he can oversee the Saints’ escape from the drop.
