Newcastle United will not be selling Chris Wood in the January transfer window unless they receive a huge offer according to The Telegraph.
Wood was, of course, signed in January for a fee of £25m, but despite being a big-money signing at the time, he’s quickly fallen down the pecking order at St James’ Park.
The striker has only started two league games this season, and with Alexander Isak soon to return from injury, Wood will surely see his gametime further reduced.
However, despite this, Newcastle are hesitant to let Wood go with this report claiming that the New Zealander is very happy on Tyneside and that he’s a positive presence within the dressing room.

When it’s put in those terms, it’s not hard to understand why Newcastle don’t want to lose Wood. A harmonious dressing room and a positive environment has carried Newcastle to this point, and upsetting the apple cart in January could have a disastrous impact.
It’s cliché, but as the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and at the moment everything is going swimmingly at Newcastle.
Yes, Wood isn’t playing much football, but if he’s happy with his situation and Newcastle don’t need to sell to raise funds, then so be it.
Of course, problems arise when it comes to squad registration rules, and that’s where players such as Wood may find themselves on the chopping block in the summer window when more of a transitionary period is bound to come around at St James’ Park at the end of the season.
Wood will seemingly be staying at Newcastle for the next few months, but his long-term future at the club may not be as secure as his short-term future.
