With David Moyes having left West Ham, Huddersfield’s David Wagner is now one of the managers being considered as a replacement.
David Wagner is one of the managers being considered by West Ham United, reports the Guardian, following the news David Moyes has left the club.
Moyes was only given a six-month contract when the Scot took over from Slaven Bilic in November and the 55-year-old decided he did not want to have discussions about extending that deal.
It means West Ham are now on the hunt for a new boss, with Paulo Fonseca having already being ruled out of the running after holding talks with co-owner David Sullivan and is expected to extend his stay with current team Shakhtar Donetsk instead.
The East Londoners are keen to interview former Manchester City chief Manuel Pellegrini, currently in charge of Hebei China Fortune, and remain admirers of Newcastle United’s Rafa Benitez; whom they tried to appoint in 2015 before Bilic but the Spaniard instead chose to move to Real Madrid.
Unai Emery, who is leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer to be replaced by Thomas Tuchel, is also on the shortlist, as is Premier League duo Sean Dyche and Wagner – who are at Burnley and Huddersfield Town respectively at the moment.
The latter has impressed this season after keeping the Terriers in the English top flight following promotion from the Championship despite their limited budget and the 46-year-old could well be tempted by significantly more funds at the London Stadium.
