Anderlecht rejected a bid from Palace in January, while Watford and Leicester City are also allegedly interested in his services.

Huddersfield Town have stolen a march on several of their Premier League rivals by actively looking to sign Anderlecht and Senegal international defender Kara Mbodji, as reported by Het Belang van Limburg and covered by Sport Witness.

The 27-year-old was subjected to a bid from Crystal Palace in the January transfer window according to the same report, which was in the region of £10.5m, but that was knocked back by the Belgian club.

It’s possible that Palace will return for Mbodji given that it now seems highly unlikely the Eagles will re-sign Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool, while Watford and Leicester City are also monitoring his situation at Anderlecht.

The report states that Anderlecht are now willing to accept a lower fee than what Palace offered in January due to he players’ poor attitude, which has alerted Huddersfield, who are seemingly happy to take the risk and look to sign the player regardless.

Huddersfield will need all the help they can get if they are to survive in their debut Premier League season, while Leicester and Watford could both do with the additional defensive reinforcements themselves – new Watford boss Marco Silva has already made moves to sign Schalke 04 defender Dennis Aogo, as reported by the Hertfordshire Mercury.

In any case, it’s looking very likely that Mbodji will follow in the footsteps of fellow Senegal internationals of years gone by such as El Hadji Diouf, Sadio Mane and Papa Boupa Diop by moving to the Premier League, but where he ends up is anyone’s guess for now.
