Huddersfield Town are set to obliterate their transfer record with a £10m deal for Manchester City’s Aaron Mooy, who spent the entirety of last season on loan at David Wagner’s club, as reported by the Telegraph.
The 26-year-old Australia international was sensational for the Terriers last season and featured 51 times in all competitions, scoring four times and assisting on seven occasions as the club won promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history.

It’s thought that the bid will be £8m cash up front with a further £2m in add-ons, and if Mooy departs, he will leave Manchester City without even making a single appearance for them having signed on a free from Melbourne City in the 2016 summer.
Huddersfield’s previous transfer record was £1.8m for Christopher Schindler, who was signed last summer by the Terriers from German side 1860 Munich, though it is widely recognised that Wagner will need to spend money if the club are to stand a chance of survival.

As impressive as Huddersfield’s promotion was, there will be a lot of work needed to be done and Mooy’s arrival is expected to be the first of many this summer, with the club back in the top flight of English football for the first time in 45 years.
Despite finishing with negative goal difference and their only goal in the play-offs being an own goal, fifth placed Huddersfield defied the odds and defeated Reading on penalties in the 2016/17 play-off final.
