Rangers target Karlan Grant seemingly won’t be heading to Ibrox.

According to the Daily Mail, Huddersfield Town are nearing a £2million deal to sign Charlton Athletic striker Karlan Grant, beating Rangers to his signature.
The Terriers recently parted ways with manager David Wagner, and are now looking to back surprise replacement Jan Siewert with new signings – even if they have one eye on preparing for the Championship next season.
Huddersfield have been struggling for goals with Steve Mounie and Laurent Depoitre up top, and they now look set to bring in a new striker ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.
The Daily Mail report that Huddersfield are nearing a £2million deal for Charlton hitman Grant, with the Addicks cashing in before his contract expires at the end of the season.
Grant has come up through the Charlton ranks, and has starred this season with 14 goals in just 28 games, showing red-hot form at The Valley having spent the second half of last term on loan with Crawley Town.
The 21-year-old’s move will be a major blow to Rangers, as The Scottish Sun reported last week that the Gers were attempting to get Grant signed up to a pre-contract agreement this month.

Had Grant signed that deal, Charlton wouldn’t have got anywhere near £2million for the striker – probably not even a quarter of it. Cross-border contract rules mean Rangers could have landed Grant and paid minimal compensation as they aren’t an English club.
Instead, Grant appears to be snubbing that potential move to Ibrox in favour of joining Huddersfield immediately, and Charlton will be relieved to receive a considerable fee instead of seeing him head to Glasgow in a bargain move.
