Dimitri Cavare has been on trial with Huddersfield Town after struggling to make an impact at Ligue 1 side Rennes.
The cynics may have already condemned Huddersfield Town to a season of struggle but The Terriers are doing everything in their power to ensure their long-awaited return to the top flight is more than a flying visit.
David Wagner’s side, who beat Reading in the Championship play-off final in May, have been one of the busiest sides in the transfer window. They have brought in ten new players, breaking their transfer record four times to land Laurent Depoitre, Aaron Mooy, Tom Ince and finally Steve Mounie.
And The Sun reports that Huddersfield are set to welcome yet another new name into the fold. Right-back Dimitri Cavare has spent the last few days on trial at the Yorkshire club, featuring in their 1-0 pre-season win against Barnsley on Saturday.

And the report claims that Wagner has been suitably impressed and is likely to offer the 22-year-old a contract with Huddersfield looking likely to miss out to Swansea City in the chase for £3 million-rated Barnsley full-back Andy Yiadom.
The 6ft Cavare was highly rated as a youngster, playing twice for the French Under-20s, but has been limited to just two Ligue 1 appearances since swapping Lens for Rennes in January 2015 thanks to a cruciate ligament injury.
However, with Rennes willing to let him go, Cavare will hope that he can get his career back on tract at Huddersfield.
As such, Cavare is likely to challenge Tommy Smith, who set up 10 goals in the Championship last season, for a place on the right of Wagner’s four-man defence.
