According to the Yorkshire Post, Huddersfield Town aren’t concerned about Aston Villa’s reported interest in manager David Wagner, with no contact between the two clubs so far.
Villa parted company with manager Roberto Di Matteo on Monday morning, less than two days after Saturday’s awful 2-0 defeat away at Preston North End.

Having gone through the likes of Paul Lambert, Tim Sherwood, Remi Garde and now Di Matteo in a matter of years, it’s imperative that Villa get this appointment right – and a host of names have already been linked.
The Guardian reported earlier this week that Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner is Villa’s top target after a blistering start to the season for the German and his Terriers side.

Wagner has guided Huddersfield to top spot in the Championship at the time of writing, dropping just eight points in 11 games whilst playing a superb brand of football.
Previously part of Jurgen Klopp’s coaching setup at Borussia Dortmund, Wagner plays a similar type of high-tempo, heavy-pressing football – and that appears to have caught the eye of Villa and owner Tony Xia.

However, the Yorkshire Post now report that not only has there been no contact between the two clubs over a move for 44-year-old Wagner, but Huddersfield are also believed to be confident that their German boss would stay with the club anyway.
With excitement building at Huddersfield, Wagner may well be better off staying with the Terriers in a bid to make history and take them to the Premier League, rather than trade that for the turmoil of Villa Park.
