Huddersfield Town are reportedly closing in on a deal for Barnsley right back Andy Yiadom.

According to The Mirror, Huddersfield Town are edging towards a deal for Barnsley right back Andy Yiadom, with the Terriers poised to meet the £2million asking price.

Huddersfield have been busy in the transfer market this summer, with manager David Wagner overseeing deals to bring in Jonas Lossl, Matthias Jorgensen, Scott Malone, Danny Williams, Thomas Ince, Laurent Depoitre and Steve Mounie.

Aaron Mooy and Kasey Palmer have also returned following loan spells last season, but Wagner isn’t done strengthening his squad ahead of the Premier League kick off.

The Mirror report that Wagner still wants to bring in Barnsley’s Andy Yiadom, and a deal is edging closer with Huddersfield now prepared to pay the £2million asking price on the defender’s head.

It’s noted that Huddersfield failed with £1million and £1.5million bids for the Ghanaian international, but Wagner is now willing to match Barnsley’s £2million valuation and finally tie up the deal.

Yiadom, 25, was in the Watford youth ranks before starring in non-league football with Hayes & Yeading, Braintree and Barnet, though it was his seven-goal League Two campaign in 2015-16 that saw Barnsley snap him up.

Ghana international Yiadom starred for Barnsley last season, impressing with his pace and attacking ability, having previously played as a winger earlier in his career, and he finished the season with three assists.

Now, Yiadom’s remarkable rise is set to be capped off with a Premier League move, and he looks poised to offer major competition for Tommy Smith at right back in Wagner’s Huddersfield side.
