Leeds United reportedly look set to miss out on Reece Brown, with Huddersfield Town in the driving seat for his signature.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (9/6; page 59), Huddersfield are on course to beat Leeds to the signing of Reece Brown following the midfielder’s outstanding campaign in League Two this past year.

Brown scored 11 goals and contributed 15 assists in the fourth tier as Forest Green Rovers reached the play-off semi-final before being beaten by eventual promotion-winners Tranmere Rovers.

The Sun on Sunday (9/6; page 59) reports that he is out of contract this summer, and Huddersfield are looking set to be the team that wins the race for his signature, with Leeds about to miss out.

The 23-year-old may not have been the kind of signing that Whites fans were desperate for after such an agonising end to their first season under Marcelo Bielsa. But it could still be a blow to miss out on Brown, especially considering that he is moving on a free transfer.

Leeds have a lot of quality in the middle of the park, and have plenty to be excited about heading into next season with Jamie Shackleton getting a chance to show what he could do in his preferred role during his appearances in their own play-off semi-final.

However, Bielsa would arguably be forgiven for thinking that he needs greater depth in that area of the pitch. Brown may have been an inspired addition for that reason, but it appears Leeds have missed out in this particular race.
