According to The Scottish Sun, incoming Celtic boss Eddie Howe wants to reunite with Bournemouth defender Steve Cook at Parkhead this summer.

The Bhoys are expecting to announce Howe as their new manager imminently, having held talks with him in recent days as they look to replace Neil Lennon.

Howe already has his first move in mind as he wants Richard Hughes in as director of football, but he also appears to have a first signing in mind too, with Cook wanted.

The centre back played a huge role for Howe as Bournemouth made the rise from League One to the Premier League, and Howe now wants a reunion in Glasgow.

Howe called Cook ‘unbelievable’ in 2019, highlighting his inspirational qualities in his role as Cherries captain, with almost 400 appearances for the club to his name now.

Cook is out of contract this summer though, and after spending so much time with the Championship club, this may be appealing as the time for him to move on and try something new.

Cook will appeal to Celtic as a free signing, whilst he will represent another experienced centre back addition having seen Shane Duffy struggle this season.

Bournemouth still have time to get him down to a new deal, but Celtic can engineer a pre-contract move if they so wish – and that could happen if Howe comes in very soon.
