Eddie Howe now reportedly wants to sign a winger on loan once Alexander Isak’s club-record £60m transfer to Newcastle United has been completed.
According to the Daily Mail, the English coach is eager to bolster Newcastle’s wide-attacking options in the final days of the summer transfer window, with Leeds United winger Jack Harrison the Magpies’ number one target for the position, though the Whites are reluctant to sell one of their star forwards so late into the market.
Watford winger Joao Pedro is another option for Newcastle, but a deal to sign the Brazilian youngster is proving difficult to conclude for the Toon, which is why Howe has set his sights on signing a wide-attacker on loan once Isak has been confirmed as a new player at the club.
With only six days of the transfer window left to go, time is running out for Newcastle to sign a winger who will be able to compete with the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron, who have both enjoyed strong starts to the season as Howe’s side currently sit sixth in the Premier League standings.
Indeed, Isak’s signing could be a game-changer for Newcastle given how highly-rated the Swedish international is and how many clubs have been chasing the Real Sociedad attacker, yet Howe already looks set to add to the youngster’s arrival by trying to bring in a winger.
Time is short for Newcastle, but given the immense wealth the Toon have behind them from their PIF owners, a deal to sign a top winger could be completed in the coming days should the Magpies find the perfect player to bring to the northeast.
Newcastle will have to work fast to sign winger following Isak arrival

The arrival of Isak is huge for Newcastle and sends a huge message across Europe that the Premier League side are here to make a statement in the transfer market, and signing a top winger on loan in the closing stages of the window will add more weight to this message.
After all, Newcastle have the finances to transform themselves into one of the best clubs in the world, and adding to the signing of Isak will be a sure-fire way to improve their chances of a top-half finish in the Premier League and to attract even better players in the future.
