Tottenham Hotspur’s players are said to be excited about the possibility of Mauricio Pochettino coming back, the Athletic say.

Tottenham have incredibly opened talks with Pochettino, who could be set to leave PSG this summer.

The Argentine boss has not had the success many expected with the French club, which has led to Tottenham believing that he may be available.

It is claimed that Pochettino would have to resign to force his way back to Spurs, but the move does appeal to the 49-year-old.

Pochettino has only spoken positively about Tottenham since leaving and has already expressed a desire to return.

However, if he was to come back only 18 months after his departure it would be a huge shock.

There were accusations that ructions were starting to form in camp.

But Tottenham’s players are said to be excited over Pochettino taking charge, amid rumours that he could come back.

The likes of Dele Alli, Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko will surely be among those most happy with the rumours.

The trio have all slipped down the pecking order since Pochettino’s departure, but his return could see them feature more prominently.

Harry Kane’s thoughts on the matter will also be interesting, after rumours he wants to leave.

The Tottenham striker had a very strong relationship with Pochettino, and it will be interesting to see whether a potential reunion could change his mind over the future.
