Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho reacted ‘warmly’ to Tanguy Ndombele after substituting him yesterday, Football London report.

Ndombele came off during Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion, and the midfielder arguably wasn’t at his best.

The Frenchman received a cheap yellow card early on, which limited the effectiveness of his defending after.

Ndombele has been a fierce presser for Tottenham this season, and has hurtled into challenges – but he had to be more restrained against Brighton.

The 23-year-old did show his usual quality on the ball, but only in flashes, with Brighton actually having the lion’s share of possession.

Mourinho reportedly seemed impressed enough with Ndombele’s display, though.

The Portuguese boss apparently responded very warmly to the midfielder after he was taken off, which suggests that he was pleased with the impact that he made.

Mourinho stressed how important Ndombele was to Tottenham on Thursday, after their defeat to Antwerp.

And it seems that Spurs’s record signing continues to win his manager around this term, after a series of credible displays.
