Real Madrid will have to pay £41 million to sign Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur, the Guardian report.

Spurs are now set to complete a deal to bring the left-back to North London in the coming days.

There is great excitement about Reguilon’s arrival at Tottenham, as he is a player of huge quality.

That is why Madrid have been reluctant to let him go,without assurances that they can bring him back, if he goes on to be a huge success at Tottenham.

Los Blancos have accepted Spurs’s bid for the full-back, but only with clauses inserted which mean that a return to the Bernabeu is possible at a later date.

Madrid would have to pay £41 million to sign Reguilon back, and they have also asked for the opportunity to match any bid that a club may make for 23-year-old in the future.

The deal still makes sense for Spurs – even though the buy-back clause could be a concern if Reguilon does thrive.

In the short-term, the Spaniard looks a major upgrade on Ben Davies, and he should give them far greater attacking thrust down their left-hand side.
