Mike Ashley wants to hand Steve Bruce £50 million to spend if Newcastle United’s takeover isn’t completed soon, according to the Daily Mirror.
Bruce is keen to bring in four new players at Newcastle this summer, and it seems that he could be handed sizeable funds to do so.
Ashley is said to be prepared to back Bruce with the money required to bring new players in, even though his future at Newcastle is far from certain.
The Mirror do suggest that Newcastle’s budget could yet be reduced, as the assess the impact of stoppage of the season.
But Ashley is apparently wanting to give Bruce money to spend, as Newcastle look to strengthen again.

Whether Ashley will need to fund another transfer window at Newcastle still remains to be seen though.
The Magpies continue to wait for Premier League approval of their potential new owners.
And if Newcastle’s Saudi-backers are given the green light it could be that Bruce is handed far more than £50 million to spend in the summer, if he remains in charge.
