Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is said to have lost complete interest in the club, by the Independent.

Ashley has been waiting for the Premier League to approve a potential sale of Newcastle for weeks now, and is said to be as desperate as the club’s supporters to see the deal go through.

Newcastle’s current owner reportedly wants to focus on his other business ventures, and is eager to see the Magpies under new leadership.

The problem for Newcastle is that the Premier League appear to be no closer to a decision.

Newcastle are now expecting to start next season with Ashley still at the helm, which could mean that Steve Bruce’s side are set for a quiet summer in the transfer window.

However, Newcastle’s potential new Saudi owners are optimistic that a deal will eventually be green-lighted by the league.

“We don’t see a legitimate reason to stop the sale,” a source told the Independent.

If Newcastle’s takeover is finally given the go ahead it is likely to cause a mass celebration on Tyneside.

But while the wait continues, frustration is set to continue to rise at St. James’ Park.
