Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is well liked by his teammates, according to ESPN, amid speculation that he wants to leave.

It has been reported that although Xhaka has ‘a largely irreparable relationship with the fans’, the Switzerland international midfielder is ‘well liked in the dressing room’.

The Athletic reported last week there is a feeling among some at Arsenal that the 28-year-old midfielder wants to leave the Gunners this summer.

Sky Germany claimed in March that Xhaka wants to leave Arsenal this summer, as covered by HITC Sport.

Xhaka has been on the books of Arsenal since 2016 when he joined from Borussia Monchengladbach for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £30 million.

The midfielder has not always been great, but he is a solid midfielder who works hard and makes up in commitment what he lacks in ability at times.

It is hard to see any club pay £30 million for the 28-year-old midfielder this summer.

If Xhaka wants to leave Arsenal, then there is nothing much that the North London club can do.

The 28-year-old is in his peak years, and he can still do a very good job for another top club.

The problem that Arsenal could face if they sell Xhaka is finding a suitable replacement.

Without Champions League football next season and no prospect of challenging for the Premier League title anytime soon, would a top-quality midfielder move to the Gunners this summer?
