Sunderland owner Stewart Donald could reportedly soon receive a £50 million offer for the League One high-flyers.

Sunderland owner Stewart Donald may soon receive a £50 million offer for the Black Cats from a Hong Kong consortium, according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (28/4; page 70).
Donald oversaw a £40 million takeover at the Stadium of Light following their relegation from the Championship last season. Despite their struggles on the pitch, the fans appeared to be very positive heading into this campaign.
And it seems that there is every chance that this season could still end with promotion out of League One. Jack Ross’ side look set to find themselves in the play-off places after their draw with Portsmouth on Saturday left the Black Cats fourth, six points behind Barnsley.
The Sunday Mirror (28/4; page 70) reports that it could be another summer of change at the Stadium of Light however, with a consortium consisting of Chinese businessmen based in Hong Kong weighing up making a £50 million offer for the club depending on whether they go up or not.

The report does not offer an insight into what the current owners would make of such a bid, but Donald has consistently distanced himself from previous sale reports.
And with plenty of work still to do before promotion is secured this season, it would perhaps be no surprise if Donald offered a similar response to the latest rumours. Even if he is aware of any potential interest, he will want the club’s only focus to be on getting back into the Championship until their fate this season is decided once and for all.
