Rangers could bring a host of players back into the Ibrox fold.

Rangers vies with Oliver manager Steven Gerrard is seen during the Ladbrokes Premier League match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on March 31, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to the Daily Record, Rangers midfielders Greg Docherty and Jason Holt are likely to be given another chance to impress Steven Gerrard this summer.

The Gers are facing a key transfer window this summer having fallen short of really challenging Celtic for top spot, and Gerrard will have real decisions to make.

In midfield, Steven Davis has signed permanently, but with Lassana Coulibaly set to leave when his loan deal ends, there may just be a spot to seize in Gerrard’s squad.

Now, it’s claimed that returning loanees Docherty and Holt are set to be given chances to save their Rangers careers, as is veteran Graham Dorrans.

Docherty, 22, was sent out on loan to Shrewsbury Town just months after signing from Hamilton Academical, but has starred this season with 10 goals and 11 assists, with the Gers-mad midfielder really fighting for his future.

Meanwhile, 26-year-old Holt spent the season with another League One side in Fleetwood Town, but is back with Rangers already after suffering a knee injury last month.

Both players allegedly have a chance to impress Gerrard this summer rather than being sold on, and the Rangers boss has offered his view on the pair, suggesting to The Herald that Holt’s injury makes his situation ‘unique’, whilst acknowledging how ‘desperate’ Docherty is to impress with his boyhood club.

|Jason is in a bit of an unique situation because he’s injured, he’s in a knee brace,” said Gerrard. “The chat I had with him was about getting game-time and we’ve followed him at Fleetwood to see how he’s done. We’ll see how quickly he recovers from this injury and we’ll go from there.”

“With Greg Docherty, he’s had a good season so he’ll come back with us for pre-season and we’ll see how he does. I know how desperate he is for it. It’ll just boil down to how well he does in pre-season and whether I think he can get a pl;ace in the 18 and push for game time,” he added.
