Everton were reportedly keen on the German defender.

The 28-year-old was believed to have interested The Toffees ahead of the summer transfer window, with centre-back likely to be a problem area for Everton’s next manager and director of football Marcel Brands.

Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka are both well into their thirties, while Michael Keane has failed to show why he cost the club £25million last summer. Mason Holgate has shown inexperience when given the chance.
That has seen Everton look to land commanding 6ft 3in defender Hubner this summer, despite the former Ingolstadt ace having three years left to run on his current contract.

However, with Hoffenheim qualifying for the Champions League by finishing in an excellent third place under Julian Nagelsmann, Hubner has opted to reject Everton in order to remain with his current side.
Hubner has been in excellent form for Hoffenheim throughout 2017-18, helping his side keep nine clean sheets in his 32 league and cup appearances. He also captained the side three times, and scored four goals.
