Crystal Palace will reportedly line up a January move for Jack Wilshere.
According to the Daily Mail, new Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is lining up a January move to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
After losing 1-0 to Burnley on Sunday, Palace chose to sack manager Frank de Boer on Monday, despite giving the Dutchman just four league games in the job.
De Boer, appointed as Sam Allardyce’s appointment over the summer, presided over defeats to Huddersfield Town, Liverpool, Swansea City and Burnley without seeing his team even score a single goal, and his replacement has already been landed.
The Eagles appointed Roy Hodgson as their new manager earlier this week, landing the former England boss on a two-year deal, handing him a return to his hometown of Croydon.
Hodgson must work with the squad he has until the transfer window re-opens in January, but rumours are already circulating about a possible move for Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.
The Daily Mail report that Hodgson would jump at the chance to sign Wilshere in January, and with his contract with Arsenal coming to an end next summer, Palace could land a bargain.
Wilshere, 25, spent last season on loan at Bournemouth before returning to North London, and he has yet to make a first-team appearance this term as his days at the Emirates Stadium appear numbered.
Hodgson coached Wilshere during his time as England manager, and with first-team opportunities hard to come by at Arsenal, a reunion could be appealing to all parties.
Arsenal can cash in on Wilshere before he moves on for free, Palace and Hodgson would add quality in midfield, whilst Wilshere would be able to stay in London whilst playing under a manager he has worked with previously, handing him a fresh start away from Arsenal.
