Newcastle United reportedly want to let Dwight Gayle leave St James’ Park, but it is proving problematic.

According to a report from The Sun, Newcastle’s hopes of offloading Dwight Gayle may be fading due to any interested club being priced out of a move for the 28-year-old striker.
Gayle’s future has been one of many talking points on Tyneside this summer. Some may have expected the forward to get another chance with the Magpies after an outstanding loan spell with West Brom last season, in which he scored 24 goals as the Baggies reached the Championship play-off semi-final.
But it appears that Steve Bruce does not intend to include Gayle in his plans for the coming campaign, with The Sun reporting that Newcastle are looking to move the former Crystal Palace man on during the remaining days of the transfer window.
However, it appears that there is every chance that Gayle will remain at St James’ Park, with The Sun suggesting that he is paid too much for another club to make a move – with even a loan deal looking to be problematic.

While Gayle may be out of favour, it could be something of a blessing in disguise to keep him should they struggle to get further signings through the door before the deadline passes.
Bruce does not have a large group of attacking options at his disposal, so having Gayle in the ranks may prove beneficial as the season starts to stretch his squad. Keeping him certainly appears to be a better option than taking a massive financial hit in an attempt to move him on.
