Manager Mauricio Pochettino will be pleased to have picked up a point having been behind late in the game, but he did receive a major worry due to an injury sustained by defender Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgian star, 27, has been a key player for Spurs since signing from Atletico Madrid back in the summer of 2015, and he’s one of the last players Pochettino would’ve wanted to lose due to his importance to the Tottenham defence.

Having been stretchered off with a knee injury and West Brom, there has been plenty of concern about Alderweireld, especially with star striker Harry Kane also on the treatment table in recent weeks.
Now, The Guardian report that Tottenham are optimistic about Aldereireld’s injury, and believe that he will be out for weeks rather than months – but won’t be in contention for the midweek Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

The report adds that striker Kane, who has been out for almost a month with an ankle injury, is in line to return to training today as he ramps up his return to fitness.
Kane similarly won’t play against Bayer Leverkusen, but his return will raise hopes that he could be back to take on Bournemouth on Saturday, or Leicester City towards the end of the month.
