Dan Gosling has turned down the chance to reunite with Chris Hughton in order to stay and fight for his place at Bournemouth, as reported by the Daily Echo.
Ten years after a young Gosling swapped Everton for Newcastle United, the veteran midfielder had been lined up for a mid-season switch that would have seen him work under Hughton for a second time.
The Sun (24 January, page 59) reported that Forest had opened talks with the 30-year-old, who could have joined former West Brom play-maker Filip Krovinovic in a new-look midfield at the City Ground.
But despite falling down the pecking order on the South Coast, playing just nine minutes in Bournemouth’s last seven Championship games, Gosling is not prepared to walk away midway through a gruelling promotion push.
The Echo reports that Jason Tindall’s sixth-place side were open to offers for their long-serving midfielder.
But it seems that Gosling is determined to force his way back into the starting XI.

It remains to be seen if Nottingham Forest have an alternative option in their sights with just four days left in the transfer window.
“We see him as a high-energy player who can play from box to box,” Hughton said when he linked up with Gosling at St James’ Park a decade ago (Chronicle).
