Nottingham Forest failed to sign John McGinn in the summer but won’t give up yet.

Mark Warburton’s spell in Scottish football with Rangers probably did not go the way he had dreamed of when taking over at Ibrox in 2015.
But he is putting his time north of the border to good use in charge of Nottingham Forest with the Championship giants on the trail of some of the brightest talents in Scottish football – one of whom is expected to be a priority in January.
According to the Daily Record, Warburton has put Hibs on red alert by admitting that he has the support of the board to pursue his transfer targets. And Hibs midfielder John McGinn is expected to be one of the first on the hitlist.

Forest saw a bid of £750,000 rejected in August and will have to pay far, far more to convince Hibs to sell. Manager Neil Lennon has barely wasted an opportunity to claim that McGinn is worth at least £5 million after all, as reported by STV.
McGinn has shone north of the border this season, adapting to the top flight like a duck to water after winning the second tier’s Player of the Year award for inspiring Hibs back to the top flight last season.

And the 23-year-old, who has also broken into the Scotland squad and won the Man of the Match award in the recent clash with Holland, shone once again in the 2-2 draw at fellow suitors Celtic on Saturday.
But how much Forest are willing to offer remains to be seen.
