According to Dutch newspaper De Gelderlander, Heracles Almelo striker Paul Gladon has today travelled to England for talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves have strengthened heavily since the Fosun Group’s takeover of the club, adding the likes of Silvio, Prince Oniangue, Helder Costa and Ola John to new manager Walter Zenga’s squad.

Now, Zenga and Wolves appear to be turning their attentions to landing a new striker, and a deal may well be close to add another attacking option to Zenga’s squad.

Dutch newspaper De Gelderlander report that Heracles Almelo hitman Paul Gladon is closing in on a move to Molineux, and has even travelled to England today for talks with the club.

Gladon, 24, joined Heracles from Sparta Rotterdam last summer, but started just three games last season as Wout Weghorst was the club’s leading striker, though he did manage to score four goals last season.

Now, with Weghorst sold to AZ Alkmaar, Gladon is Heracles’ first-choice striker, and has scored twice already this season – though did hit the headlines earlier this month for missing two penalties in a minute against Willem II.

Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Gladon is strong and good in the air, and having travelled for talks with Wolves today, he appears set to join fellow Dutchman Ola John at Molineux.

Given his lack of first-team football last season, this is a curious move from Wolves. Gladon has started this season well and appears to have some potential if given a chance to shine, but he is certainly a surprise transfer target.
