Leeds boss is looking to former club Barnsley

Paul Heckingbottom manager of Barnsley looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Barnsley and Leeds United at Oakwell Stadium on November 25, 2017 in Barnsley, England.

Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom is eyeing a triple transfer raid affecting former club Barnsley, according to a report.

The Sun report (18/3 page 60) that Heckingbottom wants to sign three players currently on Barnsley’s books.

These are striker Oliver McBurnie, midfielder Joe Williams and defender Andy Yiadom.

McBurnie is on loan from Swansea and Williams from Everton, which reduces the complication of dealing with his old club, although Barnsley will be keen on signing them permanently.

Yiadom is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning Leeds could sign the Ghanaian for free. He has been a regular, making 24 appearances this season.

McBurnie in particular has been a huge asset for Barnsley since signing on loan, and it was Heckingbottom who recruited all three to Oakwell.

The Leeds born striker has scored six goals in nine games for Barnsley.

Williams has played 33 times in defensive midfield for Barnsley, scoring once.

Heckingbottom would have to get all three signing approved by Leeds head of recruitment Victor Orta.

The Leeds manager has won just one game since being appointed in January and he will need to add more victories between now and May to ensure he remains in a job and can pursue his transfer targets this summer.
