Birmingham City and Derby County have been heavily linked with moves for the Hearts right-back.

Hearts will only consider seven-figure bids for sought-after right-back Callum Paterson, director of football Craig Levein said at Tuesday’s AGM, as reported by the Daily Record.

English Championship sides Birmingham City and Derby County have been heavily linked with moves for Paterson, while Premier League Watford are also said to have entered the running [Daily Record].

The 22-year-old is out of contract in the summer, and Hearts are reportedly due a £450,000 development fee if he leaves at the end of his deal.

It was previously claimed that the Edinburgh side will net an additional £400,000 if they finish second rather than fourth this season [Daily Record] – another incentive to hang on to their best players.

Derby were said to be plotting a £500,000 bid for Paterson in January, having lost regular right-back Cyrus Christie until February at least.

Rams boss Steve McClaren travelled to watch the Scotland international in action against Rangers last month, along with Jambos teammates John Souttar, Jamie Walker and Bjorn Johnsen.

However, a recent takeover of Birmingham City means the Blues may have the resources to rival Derby when the transfer window re-opens.

Gianfranco Zola’s side have today agreed a deal for loan striker Lukas Jutkiewicz to move to St. Andrew’s on a permanent basis, while Henri Lansbury – who plays for Derby’s rivals Nottingham Forest – has emerged as another potential Blues target [Birmingham Mail].
