Celtic boss Neil Lennon is said to be keen to snap up two right-backs during this summer’s transfer window.
According to the Scottish Sun, Hatem Abd Elhamed is on the verge of joining Celtic.
Celtic are expected to pay £1.6 million to sign the Hapoel Beer Sheva defender, who is now just waiting to be told he can move to Parkhead.
Abd Elhamed wants to sign a four year deal with Celtic, worth £7,000-a-week, with the move now very close.
It could be part of a double swoop for Neil Lennon’s side, as Danny Simpson may also follow him.
Simpson has been offered a trial at Celtic, with the Bhoys keen to see what the right-back can offer.
Lennon feels that Abd Elhamed and Simpson can offer each other good competition if they are both brought to Celtic in the coming days.
Celtic lost Mikael Lustig earlier this summer, so strengthening the right hand side of their defence has become a priority.
Simpson and Abd Elhamed are slightly different types of players at this stage of their careers.
Simpson may be a more solid defender, but Abd Elhamed would offer Celtic pace down the flank, and could be an attacking threat.
