According to the Birmingham Mail, Harry McKirdy was keen to leave Aston Villa on loan, before injury struck.

McKirdy really wanted regular first-team action, and Villa had plenty of teams wanting to take the young striker off their hands.

However, the prospect has damaged his shoulder, which will leave him sidelined for months.

Villa will now have to do without McKirdy, and the prospect will not get the move that he wanted until January, at the very earliest.

The 21-year-old spent last season out on loan at Crewe, which has given him a taste of action at senior level.

McKirdy is regarded as one of Steve Bruce’s brightest prospects, but his first-team chances at Villa appeared limited, even before the injury.

Jonathan Kodjia, who has started the season as Villa’s leading striker, has been in wonderful form, and the claret and blues are believed to be chasing another forward before the loan deadline.
