According to The Mirror, Hull City defender Harry Maguire is keen on a move to Tottenham in order to play Champions League football – but first-team prospects mean that Everton are still in with a shout.
Maguire, 24, was one of Hull’s standout performers this season, not only impressing with his defensive ability, but also for his play going forward, having notched two goals and two assists this term.

The centre back has taken a while to live up to his billing at Sheffield United before Hull snapped him up in 2014, but he has now blossomed into an impressive centre back – and he is unsurprisingly attracting interest.
Hull’s relegation from the Premier League has left them open to losing key players, and Maguire certainly fits that bill, with The Mirror claiming that he has decided he wants an instant return to the top flight.

It’s stated that Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are going head to head in the battle for Maguire’s signature, with a fee of £22million mentioned – though, with just one year left on his contract, it’s hard to see Hull landing such a huge deal.
The report claims that Maguire is keen on a move to Spurs as they can offer him Champions League football, having finished second in the Premier League table this season – though it’s unclear just how big his role would be.

Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld have been one of the best centre back partnerships in England over the last two seasons, whilst Eric Dier has slotted into a three-man back line, meaning that Maguire would most likely be viewed as a replacement for Kevin Wimmer as the fourth-choice centre back.
It’s added that Maguire is aware that he would play more first-team football at Everton, and whilst they can’t offer Champions League football, they are in next season’s Europa League – meaning that Ronald Koeman’s men are still in with a shout of landing Maguire this summer, but may have to move quickly to beat Spurs.
