The Tottenham Hotspur man is contracted to the club until 2020.
The Telegraph have reported that Harry Kane will not extend his contract with Tottenham Hotspur unless he is given a £120,000-a-week deal.
The 23-year-old’s long-term future at Tottenham has been thrown up in the air after it was reported that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would not break the £100,000-a-week wage structure to accommodate Kane, who reportedly earns around £60,000-a-week at the moment.
The England marksman, who netted over 60 times in all competitions for the Lilywhites over the past two seasons, is contracted to the North London club until 2020.
But The Telegraph claims that Tottenham are vulnerable to losing Kane if they do not satisfy his salary demands of £120,000-a-week, which is what Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge earn.
Nevertheless, the report goes on to suggest that he is happy at White Hart Lane, but that he is very aware of his “market value”.
Kane won the Premier League’s Golden Boot with 25 goals last term, beating Diego Costa, Sergio Aguero and Jamie Vardy, and the young hitman would likely be challenging again this season if not for a six-week absence through injury.
He scored in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal last week on his return, but he is still six goals behind Costa, with nine.
His wage demands do not seem entirely unreasonable, given that he is arguably Tottenham’s most important player and their eight-match winless run at the moment perhaps proves as much.
