Celtic are reportedly still keen to add Scott McKenna despite his injury.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic will still target Scott McKenna as a potential replacement for Dedryck Boyata – despite his new injury.

The Bhoys have yet to add any new faces since the end of last season, as Scott Bain and Odsonne Edouard have made their loan moves permanent, though Lewis Morgan has returned from his St Mirren loan to start his Celtic career.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will be keen to bring in new talent this month, and whilst a move for Hibernian’s John McGinn is now looking less than likely, he remains keen on another top Scottish talent.

Reports emerged over the weekend linking Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna with a move to Celtic, and The Scottish Sun now report that the Bhoys would still move for him despite seeing him pick up a hamstring injury against Rangers on Sunday.

The 21-year-old may be on the treatment table for a little while, but Celtic are still keen to sign the Scotland international after he became a star with Aberdeen, having come up through the ranks at Pittodrie.

Any Celtic move may depend on the future of Dedryck Boyata though, with the Belgian international still being linked with a move away given that his contract expires next summer.

It’s stated that Fulham are preparing a last-gasp bid for Boyata, and if he leaves the club, then Celtic will step up their bid for McKenna.

With Fulham signing Alfie Mawson and Calum Chambers, it remains to be seen how strong their interest is, but Celtic appear to have a plan in place – even if preferred target McKenna is injured.
