Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga has reportedly arrived in Leeds.
According to the Daily Mail, Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga has been in Leeds today ahead of joining Leeds United on loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Leeds played out a 0-0 draw with Preston North End this afternoon, as the Whites couldn’t break down Alex Neil’s resilient Lilywhites side at Elland Road.
On Friday, Sky Sports reported that Leeds have rejected two bids from Premier League clubs for star striker Chris Wood, totalling £12million and £16million respectively, but the Whites could pursue another striker whether he stays or not.
Caleb Ekuban arrived from Chievo Verona over the summer to boost Thomas Christiansen’s attacking options, but with Marcus Antonsson loaned out to Blackburn Rovers, Leeds now look set to add another striker.
Leeds have been heavily linked with Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga in recent days, and the Daily Mail now report that the German has been in West Yorkshire today ahead of signing a deal with the club.
It’s claimed that Lasogga is expected to sign a season-long loan deal with Leeds, with a view to a permanent move having slipped down the pecking order with Hamburg this summer following Andre Hahn’s arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Lasogga, 25, has hit 30 goals in 106 games for Hamburg since joining from Hertha Berlin, and provides a major physical presence as a target man, possessing great height and aerial ability in the box.
Some may believe that Lasogga could arrive as a replacement for Wood, but it seems more likely that Christiansen is looking for another physical presence to offer support to Wood as Leeds chase goals this season.
