According to L’Equipe, Habib Diallo will miss out on his preferred move to Tottenham Hotspur while West Bromwich Albion consider a late deal for him.

Spurs have set about signing another striker for much of the transfer window.

Tottenham started the campaign with Harry Kane as their only recognised senior striker, and manager Jose Mourinho repeatedly called for another addition.

Diallo, who netted 12 goals for Metz last term, was seemingly on the short list and L’Equipe claim a switch to North London was the striker’s preferred move.

But the French editorial now say that a move to Spurs is off the cards, with Jose Mourinho’s side instead bringing in Brazilian Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica.

Diallo’s ideal move to Tottenham may be off. However, a switch to the Premier League isn’t out of the question yet as L’Equipe add that West Brom are considering a move.

The Baggies have struggled in their opening three games of the campaign, picking up just one point after throwing away a 3-0 lead against Chelsea last time out.

Manager Slaven Bilic seemingly wants added firepower, and Diallo is an option.

The 25-year-old topped Metz’s scoring charts last term, following on from a 26-goal campaign in 2018-19 as he fired his side to promotion from Ligue 2.

Diallo, a four-capped Senegal international, stands at 6ft 1inch. He is quick, strong on the ball and has an eye for goal – attributes West Brom will be keen to add.

L’Equipe go on to say that Metz are seeking a £13 million for their prized asset. In today’s market, Diallo represents a potential bargain.
