Manchester City’s potential signing of Erling Haaland could have the consequence of pushing Raheem Sterling out of the club.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the arrival of Haaland, as well as Julian Alvarez, could see the England international depart the Etihad Stadium after seven years with the Premier League giants.
Haaland is looking likely to join City this summer with Pep Guardiola’s side eager to sign a striker in the transfer window. Real Madrid are also keen on the striker, however, the Manchester side remain favourites to land the Norwegian.
With the Borussia Dortmund star likely to lead City’s attack for next season, there’s a strong chance a forward could depart to make space for Haaland, and Sterling could be the fall guy for Guardiola’s side.
A Premier League record-breaker for the most penalties won in the division, Sterling has been one of City’s star players under Guardiola, yet this season has seen the winger question his future with the club.
Sterling is yet to sign a new contract with his current deal set to expire in 2023, and with Haaland likely to join City this summer, the England international could be set to depart Manchester in the transfer window this year.
Sterling should consider his options with City set to sign Haaland

Haaland looks set to be City’s marquee signing this summer in a move that could assert the Manchester giants as the dominant force in Europe for years to come, and Sterling could start considering his options if the transfer goes through.
The 27-year-old attacker is one of the Premier League’s poster stars and would be a top player at most English and European clubs, and if City do sign Haaland, Sterling should be looking towards the exit if he is to push on with his illustrious career.
