According to Calciomercato, Pep Guardiola wants to bring Romelu Lukaku to Manchester City this summer with Sergio Agüero set to depart.
The Italian news outlet state that Guardiola sees traits in Lukaku’s playing style that are comparable to Agüero’s, hence the reason for his interest.
Calciomercato say Guardiola feels the pair share a similar sense of goalscoring awareness, and also have a good understanding of how to link up with teammates.
If the Citizens do pull this deal off, then Lukaku would surely have no issues settling into life at the Etihad Stadium.
The 27-year-old spent time in Manchester while at Manchester United, so he knows the area, and the Premier League, well.
That latter point is probably an understatement. Lukaku scored 113 goals in 252 Premier League appearances, so he’s more than comfortable in England’s top-flight.

Impressively, the 91-cap Belgium international has shown no signs of slowing down since he moved to Inter Milan for £73 million.
Lukaku has scored 61 goals in just 91 games at the San Siro.
This season, he has 27 goals in 40 games, which looks likely to fire Inter Milan to the Serie A title – they sit top by 11 points.

However, there’s a slight issue.
Lukaku is loving his time under Antonio Conte so much, that he doesn’t want to leave Italy.
Calciomercato claim that he doesn’t plan to return to England, and he feels the project at Inter Milan is only just beginning.
On that note, it seems like Guardiola will have some persuading to do.
