Scottish Premiership star Kieran Tierney has been linked with a reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Premier League outfit Leicester City.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has decided to keep the faith with Benjamin Mendy – a decision that the Daily Star claims could keep Kieran Tierney at Celtic.

The future of Celtic’s 21-year-old talisman appeared to be inextricably linked with Mendy’s heading into the summer transfer window.

That is because Manchester City were expected to move for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell if Guardiola decided to give up on the injury-prone Frenchman. Leicester, then, would have attempted to reunite Brendan Rodgers with the player he turned into a star north of the border at Parkhead.

But according to the Daily Star, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich still feels Mendy has plenty to offer despite the fact that the 24-year-old’s time at the Etihad has been dogged by fitness issues and an apparent lack of professionalism.

City paid £52 million to sign Mendy from Monaco in the summer of 2017.

As a result, Leicester will have no need to sign a new left-back with Chilwell himself set to stay put, meaning Tierney is unlikely to be offered a Premier League chance by his former Celtic coach.

The Foxes are also hoping to tie down veteran Christian Fuchs to a new deal, according to The Mercury.
