According to The Telegraph, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants to bring Romeo Lavia into his first-team plans next season.
City have agreed a deal for Fernandinho to stay for one more season, but they do need to think about life after the Brazilian.
Now 36, Fernandinho will leave soon – and Guardiola seemingly fancies promoting youngster Romeo Lavia.
Guardiola’s plans for Manchester City talent Lavia
City beat a number of Premier League rivals to sign Lavia from Anderlecht last year, and helped City win the Premier League 2 title.
It’s now claimed that Guardiola is ‘giving serious consideration’ to promoting Lavia into first-team reckoning next season.
Lavia is only 17 – almost 20 years younger than Fernandinho – but Guardiola has seemingly been so impressed that he could play a role next term.

Who is Romeo Lavia?
The teenager featured in the EFL Trophy and FA Youth Cup last season, making an impact for City’s development sides in his first season at the club.
A Belgian Under-16 international, Lavia has two goals in four caps at that level and is seen as one of Belgium’s top young talents.
Primarily a holding midfielder, Lavia has been branded ‘tigerish’ and backed for a huge future by the Daily Mail, and we could soon see him in first-team action for City.
