There is a growing likelihood that Celtic will make a fresh attempt to sign Motherwell’s David Turnbull ahead of the summer transfer deadline, according to The Scottish Sun.
Turnbull is said to have seen a £3.25 million move to Celtic Park collapse a year ago, after a medical uncovered an issue with his knee.
But after a spell on the sidelines last season, the 21-year-old is back fit and firing for Well.
And The Scottish Sun claims that the Celtic manager Neil Lennon has sent Gavin Strachan, his recently-appointed first-team coach, to check on Turnbull.
The newspaper adds that Motherwell were ‘gutted’ for the Scotland Under-21 international when his ‘dream move’ suddenly collapsed, which suggests they are unlikely to lay out too many obstacles should the Bhoys indeed make a new approach.
But it warns that Lennon ‘knows Turnbull’s return to prominence will attract other clubs’, citing Norwich City’s past interest.
Celtic are not especially short in Turnbull’s position, although it is possible that his arrival could lead to the Bhoys cutting their central midfield options.

The Australia international Tom Rogic was urged to leave Celtic Park by Rene Muelensteen, the Socceroos assistant manager, earlier this year.
