Celtic are on the verge of selling their star left-back to Arsenal.
Tierney is reportedly on the verge of a move to Arsenal having completed a medical (The Scottish Sun), meaning that the Hoops will need competition for new signing Boli Bolingoli in the position.
Bolingoli arrived from Rapid Vienna earlier this summer and has had a mixed start to his Hoops career, winning plaudits for some of his forward play but attracting criticism for some of his defending.
Ideally Celtic need strong competition for the player and The Record say Taylor is an option.
The paper reckon he is ‘high up on a list of names’ that the Hoops are considering in a post-Tierney era.
They aren’t the only team keen on the one-cap Scotland international though, with German second-tier side Nurnberg said to have had two bids for him knocked back already.
With a market value of £540,000 according to Transfermarkt, he would likely cost a fraction of the reported £25m that the club will be receiving from Arsenal (The Scottish Sun).
Taylor has emerged as one of the most talented young defenders in the Scottish Premiership, making great progress under Steve Clarke, who would go on to hand him a Scotland debut against Belgium this summer.
He’s made 128 appearances for Kilmarnock in total, making his debut at the age of 18.
Celtic arguably need an experienced player to come in ready to compete at European level, but if no such player is available on the market right now then Taylor may not be the worst option.
At 21 he has significant potential and would likely improve as part of the coaching set-up at Lennoxtown, surrounded by better players.
