England are said to want Warburton as Gareth Southgate’s successor, although it will take some persuading to lure the Rangers boss away from Ibrox.
Glasgow Rangers manager Mark Warburton is wanted by England as Gareth Southgate’s Under-21 team successor, reports the Times.
Warburton’s track record of developing young players and commitment to attractive football is said to have caught the eye of the English FA.

While the 54-year-old’s credentials are reportedly strengthened by his role in setting up the NextGen Series from which England’s Raheem Sterling, and several others, emerged.
According to the Times, Warburton’s Rangers commitments mean that he is unlikely to throw his hat into the ring, with the deadline for applicants this Friday, although the FA have not ruled out approaching individuals.
The former Brentford boss will reportedly take some persuading to leave Ibrox, however, having taken Rangers up last season and led them to second in this season’s Scottish Premiership – with a seven-point cushion over third-place Aberdeen.
