Glasgow Rangers are said to be interested in the Larne teenager but reportedly don’t want to bring him to Ibrox Stadium just yet.
Rangers are one of several clubs reportedly interested in signing Northern Ireland youth international Liam Hassin.
The 17-year-old plies his trade for NIFL Championship side Larne and his performances have helped the Inver Park side to the top of the second-tier table.
Hassin spent a week training with the Ibrox side midway through the first part of the campaign after impressing in a friendly against a Gers XI, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
The report states that the teenager, who returned to his hometown club in the summer from Carrick Rangers, has made an impression on scouts from England and Scotland.
However, Rangers are understood not to be looking to bring him to Glasgow right away, instead preferring the idea of letting him develop in competitive senior matches in the Irish League rather than putting him in Scottish youth or reserve football.
On Tuesday, Hassin was named in the Northern Ireland Under-18 Schoolboys team to take on their Australia counterparts at Inver Park on January 22, as reported in Belfast Live.
Given the player has also trained with NI’s Under-21s squad too, Gers’ reported interest in him would be very much justified as he seems like a star in the making.
