Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers had wanted to bring in Aston Villa’s Aaron Tshibola.
According to a report in the Daily Express, Aston Villa do not want Aaron Tshibola to leave on loan in January.
Tsibola only moved to Villa last summer, but his future has been plunged into doubt since Steve Bruce took charge.
The former Reading man started the season in Roberto Di Matteo’s first-team plans, but he has dropped out of favour since Bruce was appointed.
Tshibola has not played for Villa since back in October, and there have been suggestions that both Glasgow Rangers want to sign him.
However, Villa reportedly do not want Tshibola to leave to move to Ibrox in the upcoming transfer window.
The claret and blues are keen to keep the 21-year-old around, to add cover to their first-team squad.
Rangers will, therefore, have to look elsewhere as Mark Warburton looks to strengthen his midfield ranks.
Rangers are expected to add quality in January, as Warburton aims to close the gap on league leaders Celtic.
