The 19-year-old is a reported target for Glasgow Rangers, who are without a manager after Mark Warburton departed Ibrox last week.

Glasgow Rangers are one of several clubs to have discussed the possibility of signing Dominic Solanke, according to the Daily Mail.

A number of clubs at home and abroad have been linked with moves for the Chelsea striker, after his summer departure was all but confirmed by Blues boss Antonio Conte on Friday.

Solanke is out of contract at Stamford Bridge in June, but while English Premier League sides could still have to pay as much as £8 million in compensation, Scottish and overseas sides can land the 19-year-old for as little as £300,000.

Nevertheless, Solanke’s reported £50,000-a-week wage demands would be almost impossible for Rangers to match, with rivals Celtic already said to have been blown out of the water by clubs south of the border (The Sun).

The Bhoys signed Moussa Dembele from Fulham in a similarly low-cost deal, and the Frenchman has been an instant success, scoring 26 goals in all competitions.

Rangers, it seems, are keen to get in on the act, with Solanke not the only young English striker linked with a move to Ibrox when his contract expires this summer.

The Daily Mail reported in November that the Gers were pursuing a pre-contract deal for Aston Villa’s Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, although the 18-year-old has since extended his stay at Villa Park.

As well as Rangers and Celtic, the report lists Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, Sunderland, West Ham United and Bayern Munich as potential Solanke suitors.
