Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are said to be keen on signing Mark Beevers, as Steven Gerrard looks to improve his side’s defence.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to the Daily Express, Glasgow Rangers are interested in signing Mark Beevers from Bolton Wanderers, with Steven Gerrard recently sending scouts to watch the centre-back.

Rangers want another defender to tighten up their backline, and have made bids for Jack Cooper at Millwall.

However, Cooper is proving an expensive option, and Rangers have lined up Beevers as an alternative.

Rangers believe that the 6ft 4inch defender could be a much cheaper target than Cooper, as he is in the last year of his contract.

Gerrard has been impressed by Beevers form over recent seasons, and he helped Bolton Wanderers to stay in the Championship last term.

Rangers already have brought in Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson this summer to bolster their defence for next campaign.
