Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have been tracking George Edmundson for much of the summer so far.

Oldham's George Edmundson celebrates opening the scoring during the Sky Bet League 2 match between Oldham Athletic and Swindon Town at Boundary Park, Oldham on Saturday 13th April 2019.

Glasgow Rangers target George Edmundson wants to move to Ibrox, but Steven Gerrard’s side may now walk away from a deal with Oldham Athletic, according to the Daily Express.

Rangers have seen a number of bids rejected for Edmundson, and their latest offer has also been turned down.

Rangers were prepared to pay over £500,000 for Edmundson, but Oldham are still asking for more.

Gerrard’s side now feel that the transfer is becoming too expensive for a player who has just a year remaining on his contract.

Rangers know that they can walk away from the deal and attempt to sign Edmundson again in six months’ time on a free transfer.

The plan could be a risk as there is other interest in Edmundson, but Rangers feel that it could be a gamble worth taking.

Edmundson does want to move to Ibrox, and there is hope that he will wait around to pick Rangers at a later date, if a deal cannot be agreed this summer.
