A report claims Glasgow Rangers and Hearts are both keen on the Scotland international, who is said to fancy a return to Scotland. But will either of Ibrox or Tynecastle be Berra’s destination?

Glasgow Rangers and Hearts are in a battle to sign Ipswich Town defender Christophe Berra, according to the Edinburgh Evening Times.
Berra is out of contract this summer, although Ipswich have an option to extend the 32-year-old’s deal by a further 12 months.
The Edinburgh Evening Times reports that Berra is aware of both clubs’ interest and is keen on a return to his native Scotland, where he began his career in 2003 as a Hearts player.
However, the likelihood of a move is said to depend on whether or not Ipswich invoke their option to retain the 34-cap Scotland international.
The Edinburgh Evening Times reports that while Rangers could offer more money than Hearts should it come down to it, Berra is intrigued by the prospect of a return to Tynecastle, where old boss Craig Levein is now the club’s director of football.
And it is claimed the identity of Rangers’ next manager – believed to be Al Gharafa coach Pedro Caixinha – could also have a bearing on the player’s decision making.

Rangers centre-backs Clint Hill and Philippe Senderos are both out of contract at Ibrox this summer and Berra, who also played for Wolverhampton Wanderers in England’s Premier League, could be the ideal replacement for either.
